What You'll Find on Allerias

Fizzo

The Fizzo is a small, hot-tempered creature that lives underground. It is one of the only Allerian life forms with fur. It never comes out during the day, and the underground is much cooler than the surface of the planet. They are about the size of a cat and weigh around 20 kilograms. They have no eyes, since they spend their time underground and are only on the surface at night. Their senses of smell and hearing are extremely acute. Their long guard hairs also allow them to assess the space around them with touch.

They move in a short shuffling pattern, scurrying along the forest floor on their tiny legs. Through the soil they burrow swiftly, using their strong hard claws to push the rich dirt out of their way. Their external teeth are a defensive weapon. They chew their food with more practical teeth inside their mouth. They feed on small prey creatures and fallen fruits. They are also known to scavenge for meat, but they prefer fresh kill. Plenty of predators want to eat them, but it is very rare that anything succeeds. Fizzo have an explosive temper that they have no problem with releasing. They screech at a deafening volume and then bite with a force of 100 kilograms per square centimeter. They do not pay attention to where they bite, so it can be a fatal wound if inflicted in the right place. Most attackers are scarred for life.

The Fizzo breeds every Allerian year and has about four babies on average. They do not mate for life, but they live in tightly knit communities and shift mates every breeding season. Unfortunately they tend to inbreed, but it is not known to affect their function negatively. The babies are sexually mature within a year of being born, and the lifespan of a Fizzo ranges from four years to seven. The females tend to live longer than the males. The females are also the dominant gender in a breeding pair.

The Fizzo lives a rather simple life with little interaction with other life forms other than biting them. The rich soil of Allerias provides a very comfortable home for them. Their weight and the gravity limit their ability to explore the surface beyond their foraging.
